I think it's the same person, doing the same thing, that I got the warning for, whenever that was.

this is my first meeting with him, and he seems to have a lot of knowledge about me, for somebody I never interacted with before today.

and states clearly, in the seed, that he is hoping this ( his trolling) leads to my suspension

and is petitioning to have my article from "national review" removed

Oh how I wish I could openly ask if your personal troll is the same one I had problems with recently. He would follow me around and bring up a comment I made in a completely different seed that he had personal issues with, he brought up my suspension history (nothing I'm proud of but suspensions happens.) and threatened he would get me banned. I finally got him to leave me alone by totally ignoring him. I see he is still around...guess he found someone else to go after. (Everyone needs a hobby but to deliberately seek out people to harass on line must be one of the most annoying "hobbies" I can think of.)

Early on in my vine days I did use the "ignore" feature for two viners. I found this ludicrous as I felt I should have enough self-control to ignore these types without using the "ignore" application. It has worked well for me and my tolerance level for the snarky has risen sharply in the past three and a half years. It's been a great exercise for me and well worth my effort to abstain from engaging those that I'd like to punch in the head.

I know what you mean. i would "peek" on occasion based on the response by someone to the hidden comment. Several of the people I had on ignore have been banned within the last month. I took a couple off ignore and so far so good. There are about 15 names left on it. Only three of the names are people, the remainders are spam advertisers.

There is a lovely little book by Miyamoto Musashi titled A Book of Five Rings, The Classic Guide to Strategy, written over 300 years ago. One important premise is that one should always know that the enemy is thinking.

Maggie, the book was written by Miyamoto about the art of kendo, Japanese sword fighting. I studied kendo and jodo for many years. It is a blast. Many sore knuckles and elbows to brag about.

But the ideas are applicable to life in general - not just about "enemies". The suggestion is that we should be aware of our surroundings and how they effect our ability to live a happy, fruitful life in the chaos we have no choice but to endure.

Yep - I preach that all the time! I want people to say what is on their minds so that I will be able to avoid an ambush. When you begin to shut people up because you don't want to hear what they are saying, all you do is reinforce your (the empirical "your") own ignorance of reality. And it could come back and bite you in the butt. Now, while I could stand to lose about half my butt, I'd prefer the old-fashioned way of getting rid of it... not in some kind of ambush by someone whose devious thoughts were silenced because someone found them offensive...

Maggie, Gallup? Oh, that can be a really miserable town in the winter. Cold, cold winds in the winter and not much to do. Typical small town in NM. There is a lot of good hunting and fishing around there if one is a sportsman. And lots of beautiful places to camp just south of there in the forest around Ramah and El Moro.

keeping your friends close and your enemies closer is a smart thing to do. And I do enjoy a serious discussion/argument, But my question is , with all that goes on here at NV doesn't anyone besides me mess with peoples head just for the sake of messing with them? I just love it when a "jerk" comes around. And yes I'm old enough to know better, I've been around since before the Dead Sea got sick but I also think and believe when life tosses me an apple, you can bet your sweet knickers I am going to take a bite of it......

I'm not talking about insulting a person or calling them names, but messing with them mentally. As an example I had one person who like to correct your spelling or word usage and was rude about it. When he did it to me I would thank him for it and tell him he was now my new "Little buddy" knowing he would reply with I'm not little I'm 6'3. then every time I answered his posts I would end mine with "I'm 6'3 ha,ha,ha,ha,ha,....That drives them crazy because they don't get the joke, and they don't like being laughed at. they usually end up telling me to stop because they find it offensive which really makes me laugh because there never was a joke to laugh at......

I understand the premise but I am not sure I would call those I have serious difference of opinion with my "enemy" in the true sense of the word. I have people on my friends list I don't agree with on much of anything but we agree to be a sort of "frienemy". I believe most people have redeeming value. Some you have to dig and squint your eyes some to see it but it is normally there.

There are a few Newsviners that no matter how I try, honestly, I can not find any redeeming value in their comments. These few Viners are often rude, crude, crass and dilbertly try to stir the pot with shock jock comments. They tend to be completely irrational in their POV. Two or three, I swear, are card carrying members of some weird Conspiracy Theory Cult. These few people I avoid when possible. If they push confrontation I put them on ignore for a time. I have enough stress in my personal life, I don't need MORE of it from complete strangers on line. But even these people I would not call my enemies. But that's just me.

To get back to the original question (not that I didn't find the comments fun!) - in that case, you should email the moderators. Let them know that you suspect a potential rereg and why - for example, the person has only been here for a week or two, yet knows a lot about you or the moderators or NV in general. Provide links and quotes.

I actually reported a suspected rereg - after seeing someone who got banned, and re-reged immediately without trying to hide it, whining about that person (why me and not them, yada yada). After I looked into it, I thought the latter person had a point, so I reported it. The person hasn't yet been banned, but if enough of us point out this type of thing, it will help.

Unless it's that Jesus guy, but that was a rare exception.

I think this may become a slippery slope. There are many, many people with a "signature". Can you imagine Augur Well being suspended for his <pinkgrins>? IMO, banning signatures is silly. Who determines if its annoying or not?

A quick sampling of Augur's comment archive reveals that the only part that remains constant is the "grins," with the prefix referring back somehow to something said in the comment. It's more of a constantly changing emoticon than a mechanical droning mantra.

When we read a comment, we're looking for original thought, not some rubber stamped text generated by a macro-key press.

Is there an on-going dance audition for the Newsvine version of Riverdance? Some of posters could be considered grave dancing on a Viner who was suspended not banned. Most of us know who they refer to with their play on words. Why does his signature wording call for such a new ruling against the practice?

I don't see where something minor like "signature spamming" should get a person suspended or banned while other comments are serious CoH violations but the Poster is never given even a warning from Sally or Taylor. Unpopular Posters who regularly end a comment with "peace" or a smiley face emoticon could easiy be tossed into hot water with the moderators if enough of an inner circle of friends ganged up and brought to them to the attention of the moderators.

out of curiosity:

American dreams, discussing why a person is banned is very different from boasting and cheering about it.

As for the individual in question, it is actually in the CoH that signature spamming is a violation, so whether you like it or not, it is a CoH violation. He was warned several times for doing it, he kept doing it, and then finally he was suspended for it. From what I saw after that particular suspension, he seems to have stopped.

As to your last question, there are only two moderators, and there just isn't enough time to monitor all the new names that come up, so their job is basically left to investigating what people report. In the case of most of those with the offensive names, usually their purpose is to inflame, so not only do they have the offensive names, they have offensive posts that get reported as being offensive.

His view on the kind of person who would chose such a name is pretty much what I had been thinking but did not express in my original question. I agree it would be interesting to see if there is a correlation to banning, suspensions and the names like I mentioned in my original post.

I think those names make the user a malicious user report magnet not only because of the personality type that chooses them but also because if you are insulted by someone named cuddles it is easier to give the benefit of the doubt than say a user named suckmyCoh-doucher

I never heard of him before "Person of Interest." Being a fan of crime drama, I just had to check out the new series, and that's when I became enamored of Jim Caviezel. He has the most striking eyes I've ever seen, and that's saying something. Fortunately, I like the series. If I didn't, well... I really don't need to drool all that much... I don't care who is in a show if the show sucks. Maybe I can put "Catch" on my Netflix queue!

I am so very tired of Kiefer Sutherland.

I despised 24. Promoting idiotic ideas as fact and trying to make a sensible story that all of the events depicted in a 24 hour period failed miserably, imo. I watched only the first season and realized the agenda behind the show was intolerable. Because of that, I was not assaulted by Kiefer Sutherland over the past few years like so many have been. This allows me to enjoy his performance, and it is quite good.

Grae, I know what you mean about 24. I had to suspend my disbelief so hard it hurt. And the stupid teen aged daughter - what was that all about? No, the whole thing, even the smallest parts of 24 annoyed the crap out of me. Everyone at work loved it - at first. Then, after the first season they started seeing it my way and gave up on it.

NCIS, both of them are good Los Angeles is better except for Pauley Perrette. I am liking Person of Interest and Alcatraz, too.

Yes. I Googled him during the first episode and found that out. I always watch TV with my laptop handy because there is always someone whose face I recognize but the names escape me... or I see a hottie like Jim Caviesel that I never saw before and I want to know more.

Alcatraz is one we watch regularly... very interesting concept, and if it catches on, they have material for 362 episodes (that is how many prisoners who "disappeared" from Alcatraz when it was shut down).

Alcatraz is by the same people who brought you Lost! They've made it so it will be much easier to move in and out of the story as each of the cases appears to be self contained. The background material adds to prior information but so far it does not appear that much is lost by not seeing the early episodes.

Exactly right! That is one of the things we like about it.

Can't recall the name of the Sci Fi series a couple years ago, but it failed because it spent more time on flashbacks than in the present and, finally, no one knew just what time-frame it was in at any moment. Made us dizzy, so we gave up on it. "Alcatraz" has set the stage neatly, its flashbacks are pertinent and well-defined (the sound of those barred doors sliding shut), and the overall momentum is forward. It is very neatly done.

Another one we're growing fond of is "The Firm." It, however, is walking a very narrow line between keeping its viewers and losing them, and if you didn't see Chapter One, you don't want to start now. Wait for reruns (if there are any). Otherwise, you won't have a clue as to who did what to whom or if they are guilty or innocent or even relevant. We happened to catch it from the fist airing and managed to catch on to their M.O. We're okay with it now.

And now I find that the show has been moved to Saturday nights beginning in March and will likely not be renewed. I'm betting that it lost too many viewers with that horrible flashback gimmick... but, for anyone interested in learning more, try looking here.

I asked earlier about reporting grenade seeds. If I understand the definition correctly, a "grenade seed" is a written attack on entire segments of the population...on the Vine that means most political based seeds are "grenade seeds". And where would Newsvine be if every one of them were removed. A far more empty "place" and not as interesting to read.

The question was asked not because someone made me mad. (Yes, I get upset with a few comments. I am human after all, but I hope as a general rule I am not THAT thin skinned. If I am then I have no buisness in Newsvine.) I asked becasue some Authors are using a very heavy handed, "broad brush" approach to their topic of choice. A few Authors are taking this style of writing to a whole new low. They do not tolerate alternative POVs and thus, clearly do not promote healthy discussion. They delete comments that do not agree with their POV.

Many of the Author's supporters make some very derogatory, rude, crude and socially unacceptable comments that besmirch an entire population unfairly. They post personal attacks on the other Poster who disagreed with them. The Author normally turns a blind eye to them and worse may even "add" to the attack. This is the "granade seed" I am finding objectionable, not keeping with the spirit of Newsvine and wish to report.

A "personal attack" is defined as directly or indirectly insulting another user (or group of users), oftentimes by name-calling, labeling, making sweeping generalizations or putting words into their mouth.

Examples

"You are a racist..."
"Your ideas are idiotic..."
"[insert political affiliation]s are stupid."
"If you support this person you must be a member of the KKK..." (My personal experience)

Deletions just because they don't agree or don't like someone is out of control, as well as the 'gang approach' (using the word 'gang' figuratively, as 'others on their lists' is more appropos) to directly or indirectly antagonize and intimidate others...and, no, that 'is not' being sensitive. It's obviously just an attempt to prevent others to 'have and discuss' their own opinion without ridicule. I always want to tell them.. just state your reply as 'your' counter-intuition; there's no need to preface your reply with a 'cut' to my comment. Yes, their intention is to "besmirch" the opposition, not discuss. Love that word [besmirch], btw, we can use a clean word, while talking dirty! lol

..And, I fully agreee that there are both direct and indirect attacks, and those are great examples. There a few around that might disagree, attempting to separate 'personal' from just words, but I see that as an excuse to justify poor form, in addition to often being a hypocrite (i.e., my words aren't an attack, but your's are..type of thing). There's already enough ambiguity and obscurity in this world... let's make things 'clear' in the areas of life where there 'are' some controls... like, here, on Newsvine.

Unfortunately the problem with that is that when others read the posts, if a misstatement happens on the other persons part, people will assume that the person ignoring them is accepting the misstatement. Others don't see that one has the person on ignore.

That is the problem with ignore in general. And yes, I KNOW that it isn't a black and white issue.

It is the same thing about dealing with people that walk the line on CoH violations, they know exactly how to walk the line, but what they are saying is in fact a troll, or a lie etc... Not responding to it, in the eyes of many is just a tacit acceptance that what they are saying is correct. Again, not a black and white issue.

it's the twisting of the facts that she does that is the problem. And she does do exactly that. Her world is black and white, and the reality is the world is composed of many complex layers of grey.

It is just like the whole Iaruonocon argument. (I don't want to bring the specific argument because it's politics). Banning him wasn't a black and white issue. It was a 'grey' issue that required judgement on someones part. That action though created a major kerfuffle between groups that wanted him flat out gone, and others that basically think that he should be allowed to violate whatever CoH rules he wanted, because he was a quality contributor in his articles.

It isn't a black and white issue though, with him, or with most other things, and most extremists don't get that, or don't want to understand that. I honestly just wish I could just invoke a 'don't @!$%#ing talk to me' clause and not have to worry about it, (but if I would invoke that, it would have to be both ways).

Even though some find using the ignore feature repugnant I still feel it is an acceptable solution to lowering blood pressure and snark frenzy. I have learned you cannot always count on Newsvine diplomacy or the moderators to be around when you need them.

Just in real life, you sure can not be friends or even frienmies with everyone on the Vine. Some Viners are best kept at a distance. Their comments and views are frequently toxic, irrational and sometimes just plain psycho-babble on steroids. IF this kind start trolling and stalking you or another Viner from seed to seed you can bet I"ll put them on ignore. Thankfully this kind rarely last long before they appear on the Moderators radar list and they get banned.

Some people just thrive on stirring the pot and goading others into the dreaded land of CoH violations. Too often they are very very good at walking the raggedy edge of a direct CoH violation. They are rarely warned or suspended by the Moderators as a result. Some Viners do not take insults and just plain wrong insinuations well after a while...defending yourself (or others) from some of these on line trolling "specialists" is exhausting.

I did send a long report with a lot of postings detailed. When they see it all in one place, the decision is much easier. If the decision had been made based on one violation, my guess is that it would have been just a week, maybe a month. When they get 10-15 which were all posted within hours, Sally and Tyler have an easy decision.

Jon, my belly button lint is only of interest to me. Wait, that is not entirely true. When my grandson was little he would pull up my shirt and try to find belly button lint. I think he did it because I would instantly go into conniption fits and hysteria because he had his finger in my belly button. He thought it was funny - I did not.

But, Jon, you are correct about the 12 part expose. Perhaps if he can get enough expose going he might be able to convince even himself that he is on to something grand and meaningful. He is beating an dead and rotting donkey and enjoying every minute of it.

Can't say I remember seeing the John Russel one. sam bonner indeed. In my limited knowledge, I find it to be a little bit of a shame. Didn't see much of him, but he seemed willing to jump into the lion's den and at least put up a fight. I think a lot of conversations would be more colourful, more interesting, with a few more voices from the right, not less. But I honestly don't know much about him, so I could be way off base.

Regardless, I guess when you don't play by the rules...

Tyler and Sally really need some help. Newsvine is just to f'ing big for two overworked people to police. It would be great if they could get some help, slow down a little and not have to make rushed decisions regarding banning and suspensions. The faster they have to go the more questionable decisions they render -- and that is not fair to them or to the members of the vine.

He has been on my friend list since forever... and I just noticed something: sambonner is also on my friend list, and I never even heard of him before today. I just realized that a re-reg from the same IP address automatically gets on the friend list of anyone who was a friend before the re-reg... so, if in doubt, look on your friend list if you suspect a re-reg...

Nearly everyone I've seen that has had a week or a month off---reacts in some way, usually with Meta articles.

I can see why 'some' that have been banned--mostly those that 'didn't' want to leave, will try to find ways to 'sneak' back in--or make it obvious just to play games with the Staff in retaliation.

It's a bruised ego, and the feeling that some get caught and punished, while others go unscathed for doing the same things. Not much different than getting a traffic ticket or a license suspension that others might also have deserved, but didn't get 'caught.'

Yes. I was really disappointed to see a Viner that really made good contributions to Nv, that was angry at the suspension, so he sent the Staff a digital 'finger' that landed him a banning. That was pushing it, for sure, as it's stated in the rules that disrespect to the Staff's decisions will not be tolerated.

So do I. Whether they agree with the Staff decision or not, it's not going to change anything writing articles, not even their own style of communicating. It's just another display of 'ego'.

Perhaps those that implode don't realize they can control their emotions and back off from inappropriate responses. It would be very trying if spontaneous response was continually the theme and thinking before speaking never came to mind. We all have the ability for critical thinking yet often discard this for immediate response. I think walking away and processing first would be more conducive to respectful discourse but perhaps I'm mistaken in this view.

I guess a key is someone who sets up a parachute account after getting suspended, as John did. If you're so emotionally attached to this place that you can't handle a little vinecation without having to sneak back in, maybe it's time to find more things to do with your time. Charity work, exercise, a new jigsaw puzzle, happy hours with friends, something!

For those who have been suspended - did you still come in here and read during your suspension, or did you just leave this place alone during that time? I'm wondering whether coming in and reading makes people more likely to just have to be able to comment again before their suspension is over.

That really is a very good question. Having never been suspended, I don't know if I'd still read stuff or not. Probably not. There is still so much to do and not enough time to do it that I would probably resist temptation and put the extra time to better use.

I call myself a Newsvine Addict, and I do love Newsvine - but I just don't have an addictive personality or body chemistry or whatever makes it possible for me to not become genuinely addicted to anything. I can like something a lot, but when I have to, I can give it up, the same way I quit smoking over 4 years ago, cold turkey... and never looked back. I don't even like thinking of smoking now...

But, I wonder if people who DO have addictions find it harder to stay away from Newsvine, if they had always spent a lot of time here before being suspended or banned... Sounds like it would be a great subject for some enterprising researcher.

So far, everyone I've observed that has done or said something that got them banned, was a very sharp person! I truly believe they knew 'exactly' what they were doing, and they were possibly pushing it to the limits to get the final 'plunge.' Perhaps they weren't strong enough on their own to stay away, so getting banned is what they needed and wanted.

My first experience with sambonner was an exchange where he was arguing with (I think) Grisham about religion (shocker). The article was long and pretty involved, and the issues sambonner was bringing up were addressed in the article itself.

Several people went to great lengths to patiently and respectfully explain these points to him, and after a couple of dozen back-and-forth exchanges, sambonner made a pissy-sounding comment to the effect that he didn't have the patience to read the article, so he had just found some random comment to pounce on and argue about, out of context.

I put him on my ignore list. He was deeply disrespectful of the people engaging him, and he abused their goodwill. I am glad he is gone.

if your connection to the internet is though a wireless router or similar device, then no, you will only have 1 public ip.

It is the term PUBLIC IP that should actually be used, because the internet never sees your private ip.

TOR is a proxy, all it does is give you another IP, where you can choose what country where you appear to be from. If that is against the TOS, then anyone that uses a VPN is also violating it as it pretty much does the same thing (well in one use for a VPN).

Thanks, Jonathan. I knew that Tor just served as a proxy, but for lots of folks, just masking the IP is all they really are looking to do. I think intent is probably what's important; I have to use a VPN quite often, but it's just the way things are set up at work - I'm not trying to mask my location.

For what it's worth, this post very nearly exhausts my technical knowledge.

As for my IP, it looks like it is from Canada. I just never changed my firewall settings as our Checkpoint consultant no longer works for us, and it is just for me, so my network settings still route through my home in canada. If each of those computers are connected to one router, you have 1 external IP and 3 internal IP's.

Most people have one external IP, associated with their single router. But your router will assign internal IP's to connected (wired or wireless) devices. Internal IP's will usually start with 192.168.x.x.

There are other variations but the above is the norm.

I'm still trying to figure out how mine works. I'm tech illiterate. All I know is that I have two routers sitting in my house, both of which were sent to me by my work, two computers are hooked up with blue cords and another is wireless. There are huge masses of cords going from computers to VOIP phone systems to printer/faxes to walls...For a tech dummy like me, it looks like something straight out of a Steven King movie or book. =)

every....single....time. LOL. If that doesn't work, he has me enable "Log Me In" and then he proceeds to 'drive', clicking all over my screen. It's fascinating to watch. One time, a few years ago, my daughter came home from school during one of those Log Me In sessions and saw him controlling my computer. She was thoroughly impressed and started referring to him as "Hacker-Dude" from that day forward. Took a while to convince her that it was just a computer program that allowed him to control my computer and he didn't "hack" anything. But she still affectionately refers to him as "Hacker-Dude" to this day. =)

That's about my natural haircolor. It didn't suit me very well so I changed it in high school (to my mother's horror). My dad used to joke that he never had any trouble finding where we were seated in church. As the only person with ruby-red hair I was fairly hard to hide in a sea of blonde, blonde/brown, white & gray.

A lot of times...sometimes months afer I've received the resume...I'll get e mails from those same e mail addresses that obviously didn't come from the original person who sent the resume. Usually, it's stuff like: "I make $3,500 a day stuffing envelopes! You should try it to! Click here!"

I noticed a trend as of late, though. Most of the e-mail addresses that seem to be vulnerable to this are yahoo, gmail, msn and aol.

Almost as annoying are those "postage paid by the receiver" cards you get through the mail or in magazines. Did you know that, if you tape one of those cards (with the box saying no thanks checked) to a brick, the receiver has to pay first class postage (at 45 cents per ounce) for the entire weight of a ten pound brick? I have a really diabolical sense of humor.

MJL-3 - Same thing happened to my laptop last week after I clicked on a link in a seed from a person that was the polar opposite of my thinking. (whew) Picked up a virus that cleared my desktop, eliminated my passwords, and sent my Mom porn-spam from my email account. Oh yeah. Try explaining that to a woman in her 80's. System restore, run scan, install firewall, check upgrades, change passwords, yadda, yadda, yadda. Crap.

Learned my lesson, temporarily............. Supposed to get a software program from a geek friend this weekend that will allegedly allow me to trace and/or @!$%# over the next person's computer that does this to mine. Hope it isn't bull@!$%#, since it's all geek-speak to me. No offense to any geeks. Me on this box is like letting your Grandpa drive an F-1 racecar. Not so good, sometimes.

H2P - that's ok. Had lunch at the nearby mexican restaurant today. My honey's apology for his subconscious mind's behavior last night. Sadly I didn't realize until we talked about it this morning that he wasn't actually awake for that conversation/text messages...nothing says "I'm sorry my subconscious is an @!$%#" quite like a squishy build-a-bear. :p

Then it was either bad lamb or not cooked properly, for when fresh killed lamb (a sheep of less than a year) is slow roasted on a spit with a some rosemary and a few other herbs and spices to a temp of 155-160 it is the most delicious thing in the world.

I agree, but I wasn't going to comment because Lamb is an acquired taste, but it really needs to be cooked medium rare (little bit more on the rare side) in order to really appreciate it.

your right my temps should be 145-150.

also pork is cooked at 140 it doesn't need to be cooked to 160 or 170 or god forbid 180. Pigs are no longer fed garbage, trichinosis is not a threat. Stop destroying pork.

At the risk of sounding incredibly dirty - it has to do with the age of the meat at the time of slaughter. Lamb is young & tender whereas mutton has aged a bit.

same difference between veal and beef.

The thing with sheep though is that the meat is extremely strong in general, almost like a game meat, so lamb meat is generally stronger than beef, but mutton is even stronger. Not sure why though because they generally eat the same thing.

Mutton by the way can also be very good, but only if it is prepared properly to 'dilute' the gameyness of the meat. It is generally though an acquired taste.

It does have a 'different' flavor, that's for sure. I grew up eating lamb (probably once or twice a month), so I learned to like it. Rack of lamb or loin cuts... yum.

Got it. I love lamb...IF it's done right. Really easy to screw up, though. Pistachio encrusted rack of lamb is killer. Lamb chops...not so much.

Never had mutton.

This who thread reminds me of a little ditty we used to say when I was a little kid:

Nope not for me,

I tried cooking a goose once, nasty, I did SOMETHING wrong. the dogs wouldn't even eat it.

My husband and I went through New Mexico once and stopped at a dinner, little rinky dink thing, we ate taco's , it didn't taste right, so I asked them if they served deer meat, he said no. When we got in the car I saw a big sign, "We are Proud to serve Horse Meat" I thow up everywhere,.

I love goose, though you have to be really careful that you don't let the fat just sit, it is a very greasy bird and you need to make sure that you let the grease melt away, but not so much that it ends up dry. I prefer goose to turkey actually.

CL 1- never been a large eater of meat. Just a little for protein. The older hubby and I get, we've found we eat a lot less meat than we did when we were younger.

I'm starting to lean your direction, Rachel. I grew up on all that heavy "farm food", but as I've been aging, I'm finding out I feel a lot better eating a lot lighter. I've been experimenting with veggies a lot and I'm really starting to like them a lot more. Even Brussels Sprouts! Love those little boogers steamed and drizzled with garlic butter.

Love Brussels Sprouts, Pat...mmm, mmmm, good! I slice them in half and drizzle with EVOO sprinkle with sea salt and pepper and roast in the oven for about 20 minutes.

Dang, must go shopping after work now...sounds good with my home made applesauce and should have a little pork with that...

Lamb, roasted on a spit at Greek Easter - nothing better. But I've never been able to handle leftover lamb. No matter how you warm it up, it tastes nasty.

Give it a shot an let me know how you like it. It's the same way I 'trained' my tastebuds to eat asparagus, too.

And I'm crazy about asparagus now. Since we live in the same town...if you head over to the Hy-Vee on Mills Civic over by Jordan Creek, they have 'white asparagus'. I've never seen it at any other Hy-Vee though. And that stuff is almost like dessert. I think it's less bitter than regular asparagus.

Sprouts cut in half, sauteed cut side down in EVOO to caramelize the cut side then flip. Bacon/mustard sauce.

Asparagus coated in EVOO, grilled until the tops are crisp and stalk is lightly charred but al dente, lightly splash a good balsamic vinegar over them.

Have to agree on liking the vegetables more as I age. Easier to digest on top of superior taste. Still love a good NY strip.

I need to cut the grass in my former asparagus garden - then in a couple of months, yum. I just have to find it. I made a huge mistake. Dug a trench 25 feet long, 1 foot wide, 18 inches deep - then my ex and I, being new gardeners, got fresh horse manure from the neighbors. Oh, yeah. Fresh seeds ready to germinate.

So, we had weeds coming up from 18 inches deep. Not so bright of us. We thought, yay, horse manure good! But, I know where it is, and I need to go get it.

The chops I bought were about 3/4" thick and boneless, pretty good with my applesauce.

We were shopping on the same wave-length, Rachel! I bought asparagus for last night, too. It was a no-meat supper last night. Just did grilled asparagus with a creamy hollandaise sauce over a bed of wild rice and a side salad. Extremely satisfying.
