SIR RICHARD OWEN

It has been suggested by some authors that the portrayal of Owen as a vindictive and treacherous man may be somewhat undeserved.

Psychedelics are back! As readers of Scientific American know, scientists have recently reported that psychedelics show promise for treating disorders such as depression, post-traumatic stress disorder and anxiety in terminal cancer patients. This weekend, researchers and other enthusiasts are gathering in New York City for a two-day celebration, "Horizons: Perspectives on Psychedelics," sponsored by the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies, or MAPS, along with other groups.

In other words, psychedelics can undermine as well as promote spiritual faith, and they can shatter as well as heal our psyches. We should keep these risks in mind as the psychedelic renaissance continues.

Keeping those risk in mind, is important. Using anything without proper caution, is not wise thing to do.

I dig them. Everyone should try LSD at least once in their life its a real eye opener.

Mushrooms are a darn good time also especially when combined with an Allman brothers concert. Long live psychedelics.

For more on the spiritual side I recommend reading Aldous Huxleys "The Doors of Perception".

With many acid trips behind me and nothing that I would call a "bad trip",there were situations when something would cause feeling of discomfort, bit of fear, but getting out of those was always easy for me,and sometimes I would actually let them last,so I can explore them, try to find the place in my mind they were coming from, and the reasons why,I hope that this psychedelic renaissance the article is talking about is actually going to take place, but I also hope that is not going to become a tool in the hands of (yet another) organized religion (or one of the existing ones).Opening your mind so you can pursue ideas that are thousands of years old (god) is just wrong, and it always makes me sad to see some smart people that due to (usually) their uupbringing and fear they were indoctrinated with at young age,not being able to get out of those medieval claws.I know that some people today are saying that because they were so smart some of these man and women realised that universe had to be created, and even if I go so far to accept that,I still don't think that creator of something so marvelous would be in way connected with organized religions of yesterday, today or tomorrow, and the "Matrix" factor (total control over our lives) I can't accept at all.LSD is actually the red pill, the one that shows us ourselves, our fears, our qualities, secrets that we keep from ourselves, shows us other people in different light, makes it easy to understand that our differences are good, and what makes us human.UN general assembly should be held with all these "gods" from around the World on small doses of acid, before they destroy the Earth and different acid rains start falling on us.
