Family, colleagues and patients are in mourning after top transplant surgeon Ali Bakran drowned while snorkelling on holiday in the Maldives.
The 61-year-old who worked at Royal Liverpool Hospital for more than 20 years was a consultant transplant and vascular surgeon who touched the lives of 'hundreds and thousands of people'.

Bakran was enjoying a two-week holiday with his wife Diane and daughter Miriam when he was pulled from the water and pronounced dead.
